Otto Hofstetter AG launches a new division
Otto Hofstetter AG's new MED division specializes ininjection moulds for medical and pharmaceutical products Starting in February, Switzerland’s Otto Hofstetter AG is expanding its range of specialty injection molds. In addition to its core expertise in PAC and PET, this family-owned company is now engineering and manufacturing molds for the pharmaceutical and medtech industries. Injection mold expert Urs Harder leads the firm’s entry into this specialist field.

Adding injection molds for medical and pharmaceutical plastic products to its offering, Otto Hofstetter AG enters a new area of business in February 2021. As a leading international mold maker, the Swiss company has designed and implemented projects for many well-known companies in recent years. To finetune its services, processes and quality assurance uncompromisingly to the specific characteristics and requirements of this area of application, Otto Hofstetter AG has now launched its MED business division.

“For almost seventy years, packaging producers around the world have valued our molds for their precision, ease of maintenance and durability, as have PET preform producers for nearly fifty years" says CEO and owner Otto Hofstetter. With its decades of expertise, including numerous projects in the medical

sector, he considers this expansion step as only logical.

Otto Hofstetter MED will manufacture injection molds for primary pharmaceutical packaging, as well as medical and diagnostic products and packaging for food supplements. As it does in the PET and PAC sectors, the company offers a full line of services for its new MED range — from production advice and planning to engineering solutions and state-of-the-art quality control. The Swiss moldmakers offers guarantees for its pharmaceutical and medtech molds as well as comprehensive on-site services and support. To lead its efforts in this new business area, Otto Hofstetter AG is delighted to bring Urs Harder on board. He is a highly experienced injection mold engineer, with deep technical and market-specific expertise.

Reorganization at Otto Hofstetter AG
Operational management now ensured by an interdisciplinary team. Since the start of the new year, Otto Hofstetter has reorganized its operational management, now steered by the division heads of the Sales, Technology, Production and Training/Service Center. Stefan Zatti has transferred the management of PET sales to Markus Feldmann, but will retain overall responsibility for marketing and sales.

The sweeping economic, technological and social developments now underway around the world have accelerated the pace of change compared to previous decades. In order to remain competitive at all levels as an international company, Otto Hofstetter AG is adapting its internal organization to meet this rapidly evolving business environment.

Thus, the family-owned Swiss company aims to ensure that it can offer effective solutions to the challenges in the plastics processing industry more quickly while still guaranteeing customers the highest quality, delivered on time and at competitive prices. For Otto Hofstetter, CEO and owner, "the new organization makes us more flexible and creates space for strategic planning. In addition, day-to-day responsibility is taken by those on the front line, with specialist knowledge." The division managers are at the core of the reorganization. Operations are divided into Sales, Technology, Production, and Training + Services (DLZ). Working together, they assure the smooth running of day-to-day business.

The sales organization now comprises Packaging, PET preform and Medtech, managed respectively by Fabio Crestani, Markus Feldmann and Urs Harder. Markus Feldmann takes over the PET division from Stefan Zatti, who in his role as a member of the executive management has more freedom for strategic projects. Markus Feldmann is supported by an experienced and well-known sales team, DLZ PET as well as the after-sales services and the Tech Center PET teams. Overall responsibility for sales and marketing remains with the executive management and lies with Stefan Zatti.

Covid-19 update: sales and production are running at full speed
After the new year began, in reaction to an increase in new coronavirus infections, Switzerland also had to impose a partial lockdown. This has had a positive effect and starting in March, restrictions will gradually be relaxed. At the same time, Switzerland has started a broad-based vaccination campaign, which should also have a positive impact on the pandemic fight.

Normal operations at Otto Hofstetter
During the entire period, neither production, aftersales nor sales were affected by the precautionary measures. All projects proceeded on schedule, according to the agreed deadlines. The only really limiting restriction was the travel ban for our sales team and technical support specialists. Thanks to first-class options for remote meetings and online support sessions, no customers went without direct and rapid contact with our people. Since international travel will probably only be possible in individual cases in the coming months, these communication tools will be continuously optimized and expanded.

New developments
The unrestricted freedom of action we have enjoyed in the past weeks and months, travel excepted, have enabled us to restructure our organization, to build up a new area of expertise and to make our latest innovation in PET preform molds ready for the market. These side-entry molds have all the well-known technical properties of every mold we make by Otto Hofstetter. You can find out more about this addition to our PET portfolio on March 10, 2021, during Pack Passion Week 2021. And we will report on our reorganization and our new business area in the coming weeks, too.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients and partners for their "crisis-resistant" trust. We wish you all lots of energy to master the challenges still being presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. And if you need support in any area of PET preforms and packaging, please contact us.

Springtime greetings from Switzerland,

Otto Hofstetter, Owner and CEO
Stefan Zatti, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Member of the Executive Board
